Will the author of the Obama administration white paper on killing U.S. citizens please report for his war crimes trial right away?
If he served in the George W. Bush Administration, someone would already be agitating for his extraordinary rendition to The Hague. The white paper outlines why the Obama administration believes that it can kill U.S. citizens without due process if they are senior members of Al Qaeda or an affiliate. This is not merely theoretical legal question, as Anwar al-Awlaki found out from the business end of Hellfire missle a few years ago in Yemen.
First of all, I'd like to state up-front that I'm all for blowing these jerks of the face of the planet. I'll support Obama if he quadruples the number of drone strikes against these terrorists.
But isn't it a little hypocritical? I mean, Obama says it's wrong to use enhanced interrogation, which doesn't kill anybody, but it's ok to kill hundreds, if not thousands of others, based on the whim of our President? And more so, to kill U.S. citizens?
Why isn't there the same outcry against this from the Democrats that decried water-boarding?
